We have the search for the stable landing, a theoretical bedrock of the fundamental
and unchanging principles on which narratives are built. This approach is often
associated with what is called structuralist (or classical) narratology, and especially
after the rise of post-structuralism, it is often viewed as old-fashioned, even
quaint – and it is often believed to yank the life out of the works it considers.
